Electric utility Kansai Electric Power Co said it will close the 870MW No. 4 reactor at its Takahama station in Japan today.
The shutdown operation is expected to be complete within one day.
This is the second of three reactors being closed for maintenance this week, which will prompt the Japanese Government to call upon mandatory electricity-saving measures, reports Bloomberg.
The utility will face a 6.6% shortage in generating capacity in August due to the reactor closures.
