Ballast Nedam, in consortium with Areva Renewables and Metso Power Oy, will begin construction of a 49MW biomass power plant in the Dutch port of Delfzijl, the Netherlands, later this year, the company has announced.
Under the €48m contract, Ballast Nedam will supervise the licensing process and the design & construction of the project’s civil engineering and structural components.
Upon completion, the plant will be able to generate electricity, sufficient to power 120,000 in the region.
The project is expected to commence operations in 2013 and has been commissioned by BioEnergieCentrale Delfzijl.
