Reliance Power has unveiled plans to build a 200MW wind power plant in Vashpet, in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Reliance Power’s parent company, the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group will invest INR15bn ($333.2m) in the project and plans to double the generation capacity in future.
German firm Fuhrlander will provide 80 wind electric generators with a capacity of 2.5MW each for the project, which will be operational by September 2012, reports dnaindia.com.
The company has signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Reliance Infrastructure, which has been approved by the Maharashtra State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
During the first decade of operation, the project will be eligible to get 3.7 million certified emission reductions which will provide INR300bn ($66.6m) revenue for the project.
