SP Amherst Wind Power will receive a loan of $45m to finance its 31.5MW stand-alone wind farm in Nova Scotia, Canada.

The wind farm, which will be equipped with 15 S97-2.1MW turbines supplied by Suzlon Wind Energy, will be capable of generating energy sufficient to power 11,000 homes.

Finance for the project is arranged by Stonebridge Financial with funding provided by the Great-West Life Assurance Company and Ontario Pension Board.

Construction of the wind farm began in May 2011 and is expected to be complete next year.
