Cogentrix of Alamosa has received a loan guarantee of $90.6m from the US Department of Energy (DoE) to support the construction of 30MW Alamosa solar project in the US State of Colorado.

The project will be equipped with innovative HCPV systems comprising concentrating optics and multijunction solar cell panels that are controlled by a dual-axis tracking system.

Upon completion, the plant will generate energy sufficient to power 6,500 homes.

Under the terms of a 20-year power purchase agreement, Public Service Company of Colorado will buy the power generated from the Alamosa solar project.
