EnerNOC has received a contract from Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) to provide 150MW of automated demand response through its DemandSMART demand response application.

By deploying the DemandSMART application as part of AESO’s load shed service for imports programme, EnerNOC expects to increase the transfer capability of the Alberta-British Columbia intertie.

With the deployment, AESO will secure the reserve resource it requires to increase its import capabilities from other jurisdictions.

EnerNOC CEO and chairman Tim Healy said this automated demand response technology takes a fraction of a second for the company to deliver the value of demand-side energy management.
