GE has formed a joint venture with Russian energy company INTER RAO UES and industrial group United Engine Corporation (UEC) to manufacture, assemble, sell and service energy-efficient heavy-duty gas-fired power-generation turbines for the Russian market.

The joint venture will be operated and controlled by GE, holding a 50% stake, while INTER RAO UES and UEC will each hold a 25% interest.

This newly formed JV will construct a new production facility in Rybinsk, Russia, which will produce about 77MW GE 6FA industrial gas turbines to 50Hz local specification.

Construction of the production facility is expected to begin this year and be complete by 2013, having an initial capacity of 14 units a year.
