Japan is to provide loans to American and Australian power generation companies who purchase coal generators from Japanese manufacturers, a government document has revealed.
In order to increase the sales of clean coal power plants, which cost around $3.1bn each, funding from the state-owned Japan Bank for International Cooperation will be given, a senior trade ministry official is reported to have said, according to Bloomberg.
Japan is planning to finance a clean-coal plant to be operated by ZeroGen, which is owned by the Queensland state government.
