Technology manufacturer Bglobal, a provider of smart meters for the UK energy market, is to accelerate the introduction of ‘smart meters’ to the business customers of npower, the British unit of German utility RWE, writes Reuters.

Smart meters, which give data on energy use, are expected to cut energy bills and help hit green targets.

Bglobal has installed several thousand smart meters for npower’s large corporate energy customers.

The increase in the rollout of smart metres for npower’s customers should help its business as the smart metering programme expands, Bglobal said in a statement.

Britain’s target is to cut greenhouse emissions by 34% by 2020 compared with 1990 levels.
