EDF has been hit with a £2m fine for providing “poor service” to homes and businesses in London, England.

The penalty was imposed by industry regulator Ofgem, which after an investigation found that French owned utiltiy EDF, which has to provide quotes for connecting new buildings and new developments such as housing estates within 90 days, missed the deadline more than 100 times between 2006 and 2008.

The fine follows a tough week for EDF, which is part of the giant French group Electricité de France. It struggled for several days to restore power to thousands of homes in south London after vandals damaged electricity cables.
