The US Government has announced an investment of $11.8m for solar energy grid integration systems (SEGIS).
The funding, announced by US Energy Secretary Steven Chu, includes $5m from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
The money will support five projects that aim to take SEGIS to the next level of development across the US, Chu said.
The work includes a $3m project by PVPowered to optimise interconnections between all types of PV modules and a $2.9m joint venture between Petra Solar, the University of Central Florida and fifteen electric utilities to improve the reliability of solar power systems.
