Maharashtra State Power Generation Company and Bharat Heavy Electricals have secured a deal to build, own and operate a 2 x 660MW thermal power plant at Latur in Maharashtra, India.

Bharat Heavy Electricals and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (Mahagenco) are expected to set up the joint venture company with initial equity coming from both partners.

The first unit of the coal-based power plant is expected to be built within 48 months of the order being placed on BHEL and the second unit is expected to be operational within 54 months.

The TG units will be manufactured by BHEL at its Haridwar plant, while the once-through supercritical boilers, will be manufactured at BHEL’s Tiruchy plant.
