PSEG Solar Source, a subsidiary of PSEG Global, will develop three large-scale solar projects with a combined capacity of 30MW by the end of 2010, one for Mars Snack Food.

PSEG bought two of the projects in Ohio and Florida from juwi solar and the other, based in New Jersey, is being developed for Mars Snack Food’s US headquarters.

PSEG Solar will own all projects, while juwi provides engineering, procurement and construction as well as initial operation and maintenance services.

All three projects will be ground mounted using First Solar’s thin film panels and will involve the installation of 380,000 solar panels.

The 2.2MW DC Mars Solar Garden project is spread across 18 acres near Mars Snackfood’s US head office in western New Jersey. Mars has contracted to purchase the entire output after its completion this year.

The Ohio project is a 12MW DC solar farm covering 80 acres in Wyandot scheduled to start commercial operations next year.

The Florida project is a 15MW DC solar farm spread over 100 acres in Jacksonville. It will start commercial operation in 2010.

PSEG Solar will be investing a total of about $100m on all three projects.
