Areva has restructured its business groups to focus on nuclear and renewable energy businesses.

The new structure comprises six business groups – mining, front end, reactors and services, back end, renewable energies and transmission and distribution (T&D).

The simpler operating mode will enable the firm to capitalise on the nuclear renaissance and the development of renewable energy.

The reorganisation will also facilitate Areva to offer competitive integrated services to the market.

The firm has also created a cross-company engineering and projects organisation to cover all nuclear activities.

Areva recently announced plans to sell its T&D division to Alstom and Schneider Electric and will now continue as one of the business groups.
