A new power plant is being commissioned in Scotland, which will work by generating energy from domestic and industrial waste.

The plant will generate 6.3MW of power a year for the national grid while the heat produced by the gasification process will be used by local industries.

The plant has been designed and built by building and services organisation Ascot Environmental and will use 60,000 tons of hazardous and non-hazardous waste a year.

The station’s advanced thermal treatment process uses compressed air supplied from an Atlas Copco Compressors system.
