Turkey’s Anadolu Group said it plans to build a 1,200MW coal-fired plant in northern Turkey, as part of the company’s plans to boost installed power capacity to more than 2,000MW.

The firm also plans to invest $150m in a 90MW hydroelectric power plant in Georgia that could begin operation in 2014.

The company said it plans to invest €2bn ($2.68bn) in energy projects and is in talks with potential partners.
