South Korea hopes to build an additional four nuclear reactors in the United Arab Emirates, the country’s ambassador has announced.

In December, the UAE awarded a South Korean group a deal to build and operate four nuclear reactors in the Gulf Arab state, reports Reuters.

“We hope to build four more reactors, but so far there is no agreement on this,” Chung Yong-chil, South Korean ambassador to the UAE told Reuters on the sidelines of a conference.

He also said that South Korea expected to win additional deals worth $20bn for services and maintenance after the construction of the first four reactors was complete.

Arena Events will be hosting the Nuclear Build Construction Challenges conference in London, where big players from the nuclear power sector will come together to discuss the latest government proposals and technologies to meet new-build requirements. The conference takes place 9-10 March, at the Hilton Kensington Hotel, London.
