Canadian Capital Power’s wind project has been awarded an electricity purchase agreement (EPA) contract by BC hydro.

The 142MW wind power project with 79 turbines will be built by a Capital Power Subsidiary for $455m in north eastern British Columbia, Canada.

Under the 25-year contract, Capital power will supply energy generated by Quality wind to BC Hydro by spring 2013.

The Quality wind project is one of the first group of 19 projects selected by BC Hydro to be awarded electricity purchase agreements under the Clean Power Call.

The projects are expected to generate more than 2,400GWh of clean, reliable electricity a year, Capital Power said.
