Siemens Energy said it will provide 60 wind turbines to the 138MW St. Joseph wind farm in Manitoba, Canada.

Siemens will also offer technical field assistance for installing and commissioning the wind turbines, which each have a 2.3MW capacity.

Siemens Energy Renewable Energy Division CEO René Umlauft said that the Canadian wind power market is very promising.

“We are expecting it to grow 3,400MW to more than 15,000MW in 2020,” Umlauft said.

The firm has also supplied wind turbines for the Wolfe Island and Port Alma wind farms and received orders for the Chatham and Gosfield wind projects in Canada totalling to 400MW.

“We want to extend our wind power business footprint throughout Canada,” Umlauft said.
