Enel, EDF and Ansaldo Energia have signed a deal to build four nuclear power plants in Italy.

Enel and EDF plan to invest in and develop evolutionary pressurised reactors (EPRs) with Areva Technology and use Ansaldo’s study, design and commissioning expertise for the projects.

Ansaldo Energia will also participate in the qualification and tender process carried out by Enel and EDF for the supply of equipment, installation and engineering systems packages.

The agreement, which aims to boost the Italian nuclear power industry, is valid for five years.
