E.ON has commissioned the onshore Barao Sao Joao wind in southern Portugal.

The 50MW wind project is expected to reduce emissions by 60t a year, taking E.ON’s total Spanish and Portuguese capacity to 360MW.

“Alongside the US, the Iberian peninsula is part of our strategic target region for the expansion of onshore wind energy,” E.ON Climate & Renewables CEO Frank Mastiaux said.

E.ON has onshore wind plants with a capacity of over 2,756MW in Europe and the US.
