France’s GDF Suez has been awarded a $1.7bn deal to build and operate two power plants in Oman.
GDF will own a 46% stake in each of the independent power projects, which have a combined capacity of 1,500MW.
Under the 15-year agreement, GDF will sell the power generated by the Barka 3 and Sohar 2 projects to the government-owned Oman Power and Water Procurement Co (OPWP).
