Legislative leaders in Vermont, US, have called on Entergy to undergo major repairs at its nuclear power plant in the state following a new leak of radioactive material.

State Senate president Peter Shumlin said he and house speaker Shap Smith are calling on the New Orleans-based power company to replace underground piping at the Vermont Yankee plant, reports Dow Jones.

Entergy reported a new leak last Saturday with affected areas testing positive for tritium and various isotopes.

The company has said the leak wasn’t a threat to public health or safety.
