Zimbabwe said it needs at least $5.3bn in investment for its power sector to meet demand for electricity.
Zimbabwe Energy Minister Elias Mudzuri told the Chronicle the country needs funds to repair power generators and build new stations.
The amount will be used to repair the coal-fired Hwange plant and the Kariba South hydropower facility and to build a hydropower generator at Batoka and a coal-fired thermal generator at Gokwe-Sengwa, according to the Chronicle.
Zimbabwe currently generates 1,500MW of power while demand stands at 2,799MW.
