Sanyo Electric plans to begin full-scale development and expansion of its solar and energy solutions business in the European market this year.

Sanyo said it aims to create an €800m business in its solar and energy solutions business in Europe by March 2016, providing photovoltaic modules, lithium-ion battery systems and energy management systems.

The Japanese firm will develop its energy solutions business in Europe through its smart energy system (SES) that combines its technologies for energy generation, storage and efficiency, Sanyo said in a statement.

The SES system can be installed in small-scale applications such as homes, medium-scale applications such as convenience stores and large-scale applications such as factories.
