Global cabling systems company Nexans has won a €73m contract to upgrade the high-voltage underground power cable infrastructure in Abu Dhabi City, UAE.

The contract, awarded by Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (TRANSCO), covers the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of about 210km of 132kV XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) underground power cables.

The TRANSCO cables will be manufactured at the Nexans facilities in Belgium and Switzerland and will be supplied and installed over an 18-month period, starting late this year.
