US company Wells Fargo Wind Holdings has invested $141m in Horizon Wind Energy in exchange for an interest in the Vetno III portfolio of power projects.

The Vento III is a 604MW portfolio of wind farms built in December 2008, comprising a 103MW Rattlesnake wind farm, Oregon, 300MW Pioneer Prairie in Iowa and a 210MW Meridian Way project in Kansas.

With the new investment, Horizon’s parent company EDP Renováveis said it has raised a total of $517m through Vento III.
