GE Energy plans to install up to five wind turbines in two demonstration projects in Norway and Sweden.
GE said it will perform technical and environmental feasibility studies along with Statoil and Lyse to build an offshore wind demonstration project in Rogaland County, offshore Norway.
Under the agreement, the firm will also install up to four of its 4MW class of offshore direct drive turbines beginning in 2012, following completion of feasibility studies and appropriate investment and funding decisions.
GE, with Gothenburg Energy, will also install a direct drive machine designed for offshore operations in Gothenburg Harbour in 2011.
