Siemens will become a 49% shareholder in A2SEA, a supplier of installation services for the construction of offshore wind farms in a deal worth DKK860m ($141.4m).

With the holding, Siemens said it aims to advance the industrialisation of offshore wind power.

Denmark’s DONG Energy will continue to be the A2SEA’s main shareholder as the firm looks into the possibility of expanding its installation capacity.

Europe has an offshore wind power potential of 100GW, which equals two thirds of the power plant capacity installed in Germany.
