ABB will provide three photovoltaic solar power plants for Actelios in Sicily, Italy, for $50m.
The three plants will have total generation capacity of 13MW. The main 6MW plant will be built in Spinasanta, a 3.8MW plant in Cardonita and a 3.3MW plant in Sugherotorto.
The project includes design, engineering, supply and commissioning of the power plants, along with the medium-voltage distribution link to connect the plants to the national grid.
ABB will also supply transformers, medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear, protection devices and an advanced control system.
Once operational, the plants will supply about 19GWh of power each year and reduce CO2 emissions by over 9,400t each year.
The plants are expected to be complete by the end of the year.
