Siemens Energy will supply 68 wind turbines of 2.3MW class to SSE Renewables at the Griffin wind power project in the Scottish Highlands.

Upon its completion in 2012, the wind farm will generate 156MW to supply power to over 80,000 homes in Scotland.

Siemens will deliver, install and commission the wind turbines at the site.

Of the 68 turbines, 61 will have a 101m rotor and seven will have a 93m rotor.

The firm will deploy its SWT-2.3-101 for the first time in the UK and also provide services for turbine operation and maintenance for an initial period of five years.
