Emerson Process Management will retrofit plant and turbine controls for Korea South East Power Company’s Samcheonpo thermal power plant in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea.
To extend the service life of the power plant’s third and fourth units (2x560MW), Emerson will use its Plant Web digital plant architecture and replace the outdated controls with its Ovation expert control system.
The system will monitor and control each unit’s combustion engineering boiler, GE turbine and balance-of-plant processes resulting in improved unit stability, responsiveness and thermal efficiencies.
The system will also ensure tighter overall control of plant operations and a more concise view of key plant and turbine parameters.
In total, Emerson will install 17 Ovation controllers and 52 workstations to manage a total of about 21,300 I/O points.
The six-unit power station has a generating capacity of 3240MW.
