Alstom will develop and modernise Iraq’s electricity infrastructure under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the country’s Ministry of Oil and Electricity on three major projects.
Under the MoU, Alstom will provide engineering, procurement and construction of a power plant at Bassorah in southern Iraq.
The plant will comprise three oil-fired steam units, each with an output of 400MW and include the supply of 400kV and 132kV gas insulated substations (GIS).
The second project involves rehabilitation of the 180MW gas-fired power plant at Najaf, comprising three GT13D gas turbines.
The third project focuses on the supply and supervision of 400kV GIS substations and 132kV GIS and air insulated substations (AIS) in various locations in Iraq.
