Siemens Energy has won an order to provide 98 wind turbines for the Crossroads wind power plant in Oklahoma, US.
Siemens will supply 95 units of SWT-2.3-101 and three units of the new SWT-3.0-101 gearless direct-drive wind turbine to the wind farm.
The supply also includes delivery, installation and commissioning of all turbines as well as turbine service and maintenance for a period of three-and-a-half years.
Crossroads will be able to meet the electrical needs of more than 68,000 average US homes by the end of 2011.
Construction of the 227.5MW wind power project will commence by the end of August 2010, with deliveries of the first wind turbines scheduled in April 2011.
The wind power plant is the third to provide clean energy to OG&E other than the OU Spirit and Keenan II wind farms built in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
