Siemens Energy will supply wind turbines generating a total of 600MW of power to Samsung C&T for selected wind projects in southern Ontario.

Siemens Wind Power Business Unit CEO Jens-Peter Saul said the supply agreement strengthens its position in the rapidly growing wind power market in Canada.

Siemens has been working with Samsung C&T and its development partner Pattern Energy on this first phase of development under Ontario’s Feed-In Tariff (FIT) programme, where Samsung plans to develop 2,000MW of wind power over the next six years.

The supply agreement will aid the Ontario wind programme, while Siemens also intends to build a blade manufacturing site in Canada.
