An Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) and BESIX joint venture will provide the offshore works for an offshore oil and gas-powered power plant in Ain El Sokhna, Egypt, for $60m.
Work on the 1,300MW, twin-unit power plant will include construction of three pipelines totalling a length of about 5.1km.
The project has been undertaken for the state-owned East Delta Electricity Production Company (EDEPC) and will be completed in two years.
OCI Construction Group managing director Osama Bishai said that they would continue to target similar projects going forward as regional governments deploy infrastructure funds towards their power programmes.
