Iran has unveiled its first nuclear power plant, which will be operated by Russia, on the Persian Gulf in south-western Iran.

Iran has started loading nuclear fuel supplied by Russia into the reactor for operations, which will start in a month, according to the BBC.

Russia will also be responsible for removing nuclear waste from the reactor.

Iran has been subject to four rounds of UN sanctions because of its separate uranium enrichment programme.

Israel objected to the new operation, concerned that the country would use the uranium fuel for non-peaceful purposes.
