American Superconductor (AMSC) will supply 17 wind turbine electrical control systems to India’s Inox Wind under a new agreement.
The control systems will be deployed in 2MW doubly-fed induction wind turbines licensed from AMSC Wind, the subsidiary under a contract sealed last year.
Inox Wind director Devansh Jain said that with its first wind turbine now commissioned and its manufacturing plants operational, the firm aims to begin full-scale production later this year.
According to a June 2010 report by industry research firm Emerging Energy Research (EER), India had nearly 11,000MW of wind power installed at the end of 2009.
