Siemens Energy will supply two SGT6-PAC 5000F gas turbine packages to Mississippi Power Company for a 582MW Kemper County power plant in Mississippi, US.

The turbines will be installed in the coal-fired integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) power plant, and will eliminate the emission of 3 million tons of CO2 per annum.

Siemens’ gas turbine packages each comprise a 232MW gas turbine, an air-cooled generator and a SPPA-T3000 power-plant control system.

Siemens’ Energy Sector Fossil Power Generation Division CEO Michael Suess said the turbines will be manufactured at its new 60Hz gas and steam turbine production hub in North Carolina.

The plant is expected come onstream in mid 2014.
