Beacon Power has signed an agreement with the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) and NYSEG, a local utility, to connect its Stephentown frequency regulation plant to the grid.
Beacon president and CEO Bill Capp said the interconnection agreement is an essential step for its flywheel plant to come online and provide regulation service.
“With this done we look forward to connecting our first 4MW of capacity and start earning revenue in Stephentown this year,” Capp said.
“By the end of the first quarter of 2011, we expect to have all 20MW online and earning revenue.”
