ABB will provide maintenance services for Doha East power station and the Shuwaikh desalination plant, under an agreement with Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water.

The five-year contract will include technical and project management services along with maintenance and on-site support related to the power infrastructure, according to Gulf News.

Doha East is one of Kuwait’s five major base load power stations, while the Shuwaikh seawater desalination plant accounts for 6% of the country’s desalination capacity.

ABB’s Power Systems division global power generation business head Franz-Josef Mengede told Gulf News that it will leverage its technology strengths to help Kuwait maintain the efficiency and reliability of the plant.
