Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity has awarded contracts to install 20 gas-based turbines at three power generation plants to three Turkish companies.
The Ministry will be signing the contracts with the Turkish firms Enka Insaat ve Sanayi, Calik Enerji holding Company and Eastern Lights Enerji next week, according to Kuwait News Agency.
The turbines will be installed at the gas power stations of Al-Khairat in Karbala Governorate, Al-Quds in Baghdad and Nineveh in Nineveh Governorate of Iraq.
The stations will generate about 2,500MW and involve an investment of $900m, the Ministry’s spokesman Mus’ab Al-Madras said.
