Suzlon Energy, India’s largest wind turbine manufacturer, has received new orders of 168.5MW.
The biggest order is from Gujarat State Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited for 33MW along with orders of 18.9MW, 15MW, 12.6MW, 10.5MW, 7.5MW and 1.5MW from corporates, public sector units and small/medium business segments in India.
The power generated by the new orders will be utilised for captive consumption, and will be purchased by the state power distribution utility under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
These orders follow the previously announced Techno Group order of 202MW on 21 September 2010 and the Altrade Group order of 30MW on 3 September 2010.
The total estimated onshore wind power potential in India is over 48,000MW, according to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
India is the world’s fifth biggest wind market with a cumulative installed base of over 12,000MW.
