Power and automation technology group ABB has secured a subcontract contract worth $35m to supply electrical and automation equipment for the 290MW Yunus Emre thermal power plant being built near Eskisehir in northwestern Turkey.
The company will deliver the contract for Czech-based Vitkovice Power Engineering, which is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project.
The power plant, which will feature two 145MW units, complies with the latest emission standards set by the European Union for coal-fired power plants, ABB said.
ABB Power Generation business head, Franz-Josef Mengede, said: "We will deploy the latest technologies, including our Symphony Plus automation and control platform, to maximise plant efficiency and reliability while minimising environmental impact."
The company will provide complete electrical balance of plant and power outlet, including the high voltage switchyard as part of its turnkey solution.
ABB will also supply power and auxiliary transformers, generator circuit breakers, medium and low voltage switchgear, protection systems.
ABB’s Symphony Plus total plant automation system will control the power island of both units.
