Alstom Thermal Power will supply Arabian Bemco Contracting Co. and GS Engineering and Construction a steam tail for the Riyadh PP12 gas-fired power plant under a contract worth over €100m.

The power plant, located 100km west of the city, is currently being constructed by the Saudi Electric Company (SEC).

Exhaust gases from the gas turbines are used to generate steam and run the steam turbines at the plant which maximises the fuel utilisation to produce 2,175MW of energy.

Riyadh PP12 is expected to be operational by 2015, and will meet an increased energy demand in the central region.

Alstom, will supply two 342MW steam-turbine generator sets and eight heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) for the power plant.

Nader Abdellatif , Alstom country president in Saudi Arabia, said: "Alstom offers leading steam tail technology which will extend the efficiency and performance of this power plant."
