Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group (B&W PGG) has won a contract worth $40m to supply equipment for the 450MW Big Stone power plant in South Dakota, US.
Under the terms of the contract, the company will design, supply and install boiler pressure parts and an overfire air system for the coal-fired facility.
It will also undertake a boiler reinforcement programme at the location and upgrade the plant’s boiler to accommodate the new air quality control system.
The Big Stone power plant is expected to achieve lower nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions due to the new overfire air system enhancements and in turn will reduce the cost to operate the plants selective catalytic reduction system.
B&W PGG president and COO J Randall Data said: "B&W PGG’s boiler expertise allows it to help customers across the United States maximise plant efficiency and meet new, more stringent state and federal environmental regulations."
