Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) unit Power Systems Operations has received a $40m, ten-year contract to continue providing operations and maintenance (O&M) services for Ebensburg Power Company’s 50MW power plant in Pennsylvania, US.
Power Systems Operations has provided O&M services at the plant since it began commercial operation in May 1991, and now B&W wishes to extend this contract.
B&W Power Generation Group president and chief operating officer Richard Killion said "Power Systems Operations has successfully operated this plant for the last two decades, a track record that has led to this 10-year extension."
The co-generation power plant produces steam and electricity by burning waste coal from mining refuse piles.
Ebensburg Power Company is a joint venture between subsidiaries of B&W and ESI Energy and conducts reclamation operations at these former mining sites, restoring the land to a condition suitable for plant and wildlife habitat.
