The power project, which comprises of 100 General Electric’s (GE) 1.5MW wind turbines, is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power about 40,000 average homes per year.

The Bobcat Bluff wind project spans nearly 12,500 contiguous acres and is located 20 miles south of Wichita Falls.

In March 2012, EDF Renewable Energy acquired the wind project, which will be operated and maintained by EDF Renewable Services.

In addition to providing energy management services, EDF Trading will act as the qualified scheduling entity for the project.

EDF Renewable Energy executive VP Ryan Pfaff noted that the latest project marks the firm’s first project in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas market and its second in Texas, where it commissioned 311MW in 2012.

"We are pleased to bring the project to fruition, aided in no small part by the state’s promotion of a business-friendly environment, as well as local stakeholders who understand the critical importance of wind energy to our nation’s energy portfolio," Pfaff added.
