Italian renewable energy firm Enel Green Power (EGP) has commissioned two photovoltaic plants in Romania, which have a combined installed capacity of approximately 19MW.
Located in Prahova county, the two plants, Berceni 1 and Berceni 2, are capable of generating around 29 million kilowatt hours of electricity every year.
Berceni 1 plant has an installed capacity of approximately 10MW and is expected to generate around 15 million kilowatt hours each year, enough to meet the annual energy needs of more than 7,500 homes.
The plant is expected to save more than 6,800t of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
Berceni 2 plant has an installed capacity of around 9MW and is anticipated to generate more than 14 million kilowatt hours every year, enough to meet the energy needs of more than 6,500 homes.
The plant will save more than 6,500t of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
EGP is an Enel Group company, which has an installed capacity of 498MW from wind power in Romania.
In September 2012, EGP connected the 48MW Moldova Noua wind farm, located in the Banat region of Romania, to the grid.
The company generated more 25 billion kilowatts of electricity in 2012, enough to meet the energy needs of approximately 10 million homes and avoid the emission of more than 18 million tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
EGP has an installed capacity of more than 8,000MW from a mix of resources, including wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass.
The company currently has more than 700 operational plants in 16 countries in Europe.
