First Solar

First Solar has signed an agreement to provide solar modules for enXco’s Catalina solar project located in California, US.

Under the deal, First Solar will deliver 61MWp of thin film modules from September 2012.

Kristina Peterson, vice president solar business for enXco, said: "First Solar has been and continues to be a good partner. Their technology remains one of the lowest LCOE solar PV solutions."

Dana Diller, First Solar vice president for US business development, said: "First Solar has a long-standing relationship with EDF Energies Nouvelles and we’re excited to extend this to the United States with enXco."

The Catalina project will be built in two phases and is targeted to go online by the end of 2012, with completion by June 2013.

The Catalina solar project is expected provide clean renewable energy to meet the power needs of 35,000 homes and will displace 74,000t of greenhouse gas emissions per year.
